The Folvo is home!

The ride was uneventful. I got about 19mpg and did between 70-95mph. It was WAY easier to pass cars than it was when I drove my 965!

Oil pressure, water temp and voltage was good.  The temp hovered about 198ish and a hair over 200 when I was "exhuberant". It's a bit warmer here than in WI or MN, so it seems the fan turns more and the temp is higher.

The only thing that made me a bit nervous was yesterday around noon. I had to go into work (65 mile round trip) and on the way home the car felt squirrely and unsettled. At first I blamed the grooves in the concrete mixed with the winter tires, but on the highway home it did it on smooth asphalt too.  Then the noise started, only when cruising, not when accelerating or decelerating.  Uhoh!
I pulled over and started tugging on the tires, and the rear ones were clunking so while I pulled the toolkit to check the studs, I figured the bearings were gone.
I pulled the covers off and on the driver side the broken lug stud fell out with a nut attached to it and the other nuts were almost off the studs. On the passenger side the nuts were starting to work themselves off. Yikes!
The obvious thing here is that I didn't check the torque on the lugnuts before I left (I've never done that, but that'll change hehe), and looking back, I think I've found some religion knowing that the nuts held for a long trip cross-country AND at some pretty decent speeds too. Phew!

A new lug stud is $25 from Volvo, and they have to order them, so I'll be at the yards with a can of WD40 and a hammer on Saturday.
